Could be bad: No self respecting doctor would tell you that this couldn't be bad. Especially in a 52 yo male. Symptom is best evaluated by your doc.

Many possibilities : Need more info. Is the pain at rest or with exertion? What makes it better? What makes it worse? How long does it last? Has he had it before? What other medical issues does he have? Public enemy number 1 in his age group would be coronary heart disease. Typical angina is a chest pressure located in the center of the chest that worsens with exertion and improves with rest. He should see md asap.
