A member asked:

Is it common to experience memory loss after status epilepticus coma?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Status epilepticus is a life-threatening condition in which seizures are prolonged and affect much of the brain. Someone can be in a coma with se either because of prolonged seizures or because of meds used to stop the seizure. In either case once the seizures stop it can take time to recover. If the seizures are very prolonged damage to the brain can occur.
