Post operative pain: Pain after surgery, or post operative pain is expected and treated in several ways. First line therapy is narcotic pain meds. The pain should take a pattern of decreasing over 5 to 10 days. A pain scale is often used and subjective rank from the patient should be 4-6 out of 10.
