Are any antibiotics linked with folic acid deficiency?

Folic acid and meds: Tetracycline can decrease the absorption of Folic Acid so take them at separate times. Motrin (and meds similar to it), Pepcid (famotidine) (and meds similar to it), seizure medications can also decrease Folic Acid absorption especially when taken for a long time so your doctor will advise you to add Folic Acid to your supplements or eat more whole grains.

Antibiotics folate (folic acid): Practically speaking, practically 99% of people take antibiotics for a short period of time -- one to two weeks -- so that any worries about folate (folic acid) deficiency with their use is probably not a useful concern. For the other one percent of patients requiring antibiotics long-term, there can be many types of drug-vitamin interactions that are best discussed with your clinician on an individual basis.
