It varies: It is sometimes difficult to understand the difference between physical dependence and addiction. Physical dependence is expected to occur if you're exposed to certain chemicals on a regular basis for a long enough time. If you stop the medicine suddenly you will go through a period of with drawl. Like having bad stomach flu for a few days. Addiction is a psychiatric diagnosis based on behavior.
