Vac vs immune: Having natural rubella or two doses of the vaccine at least a month apart sometime after the 1st birthday is the common way to acquire immunity. Because of the significant risk of congenital rubella ( caused by infection during pregnancy),OBGYNs often test for Rubella immunity (blood test) and give boosters if needed that would protect a future pregnancy.
