Low thyroid hormones: This can be due to a dysfunctional thyroid or a malfunctioning parathyroid gland that isn't releasing enough thyroid stimulating hormone. There are two main thyroid hormones thyroxine (t4 and triiodothyronined (t3). Both need iodine to function.
