Depends......: If your child's diet is adequate, there is no need for supplemental vitamins. Most vitamins can be absorbed only to a certain level, after which they are eliminated. If there is a concern that your child is showing signs of a specific vitamin deficiency, you should discuss this with his pediatrician.

Good balanced diet: A good nutritious diet is best . No need to supplement with vitamins. Vitamin D 400 IU a day for newborns under 1 yrs is what AAP recommends daily .
