Does amyloidosis have a particular cause?

Yes and no: Amyloidosis is the deposition of fibrils of proteins that have been produced by a variety of causes. The causes can be infectious inflammatory or neoplastic. So each case of amyloidosis has its underlying cause, but different cases of amyloidosis can be caused by different underlying processes that produce these circulating proteins.

Inflammation: Amyloidosis is a condition usually caused by chronic harmful inflammation such as untreated familial mediterranean fever which results in amyloid protein to be deposited in vital organs such as the kidney and can result in organ failure.The exact cause of amyloidosis is not understood.Strangely, it happens in people living in the eastern hemisphere but very rarely to people in western hemisphere.
