As long as the HF: Hay fever, or allergic rhinitis, can trigger swelling or inflammation in other parts of the body. The lungs are one of the most commonly affected areas. As long as there are triggers that cause persistent allergic rhinitis symptoms, a person may continue to wheeze or cough.

Might be asthma: If you have wheezing associated with your hay fever, you may have asthma. A pulmonary function test may be helpful in determining if you have asthma. People with asthma usually notice most of their symptoms when their allergic rhinitis flares up ( hay fever ), or they get a cold. You may be completely without symptoms at other times.
