Usually yes!: About 30-40% of dog bites will become infected requiring antibiotics but more importantly, the area of the bite needs to be evaluated for extensive cleaning and possible repair and tetanus status needs to be determined. Call you primary for advise asap.

Important: Dr bouvier provided an excellent response. It will also be helpful for the doctor to know the dog's vaccination status, if the dog has been acting strangely/ aggressively and if the attack was provoked or not.
