Adult Medicine: Internists use evidence-based medicine, deductive reasoning and practice guidelines to help adults (as opposed to children) sort out clinical problems through history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic studies (laboratory & imaging).

Adult medicine: Internal medicine doctors are experts in the general healthcare for adult patients (usually older than 18years old). They can take care of all the most common ailments for adults and refer to specialists if needed. They differ from "general practice" because they focus on adult care, not pediatrics.
