Sudden contraction : They are merely sudden twitches or contractions of a muscle or muscle group. They are not considered pathological.

Epilepsy: is recurrent unprovoked seizures. People with myoclonic jerks may have a type of Epilepsy. Anoic brain injury can cause myoclonic seizures. One also sees Myoclonic seizures as part of the Epilepsy syndrome Juvenille Myoclonic Epilepsy. If unsure consult a Neurologist who treats seizures.
