How does asthma spread?

Many causes 4 asthma: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways caused by both inherited and environmental factors. It doesn't spread like infections but develops in patients when inflammation leads to spasm of muscles around the windpipe and the airways become hypersensitive. Many factors trigger asthma, including allergies, respiratory infections, weather changes, irritants, exercise, and acid reflux.

Genes & environment: Asthma is inherited from your parents. Any allergic disease in your parents puts you at risk for asthma. Whether you develop asthma or not is due to your environmental exposures.
