Complex: Encephalomalacia represents a prior injury in the spinal cord, and cannot be fully reversed, but the consequences can respond to rehabilitation programs. The key issue here is to prevent further damage, and, if surgically amenable (spinal stenosis) worthwhile to pursue. Also, of some value to pin down why it has occurred, as some conditions can be stabilized.
