What are petechial hemorrhages and how can i tell if i have them?

Where are they?: Petechial hemorrhage in general is caused by broken capillary vessels and may be found on the skin, brain or elsewhere in the body. Most commonly they are associated with trauma - including those found in the brain. To find these in the brain requires an mri. On the skin they can be seen as small black and blue marks. Non-traumatic causes would include thrombocytopenia which requires evaluation.
