IHSS heart disease: Ihhs (idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis) is a serious disturbance of heart muscle growth that leads to arrhytmias, potentially fatal. This has become a very controversial topic--how do you reasonable screen for this to prevent sudden death from arrhytmia? The only effective tool we have is an echocardiogram (physical exam alone is not good enough), but you can't do one for everybody.
