A member asked:

My total cholesterol is 161. does this mean i should do something?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on other: Factors. A total cholesterol of 161 is not a cause for concern in itself. But any lab value needs to be interpreted in the total clinical context. What is your hdl, lipids, ldl, what is the family history of cardiovascular disease? Please note that half the heart attacks occur in people with normal cholesterol. It is still important to exercise, control your weight and maintain a healthy diet.
