How do i find out if i am a candidate for a liver transplant?

Your doctor: In order to be listed for a liver transplant you need undergo a thorough evaluation and meet several criteria. Transplant listings are ranked by severity not by time on the list. Generally people with alcoholic liver disease must be free of alcohol for at least 6 months and in an alcohol treatment program. You need to see your gastroenterologist for further details.

Go to a txp center: Evaluation for liver transplantation is performed by liver transplant centers. The general criteria can be found on the internet, but if you want to speak specifically and confidentially, you should consider calling a center near you. All centers can be found through unos - at th unos.Org website.
