Pain below kneecap: The patellar tendon is the tendon between your kneecap and your leg or shin bone. It is about three finger breadths long. If you have patellar tendonitis, or inflammation of the tendon, this will be painful to firm touching and jumping. It can be caused by jumping and is called jumper's knee. It is not pain behind the kneecap, or pain at the joint lines.
