Proper exer crucial: And needs to be done by physical therapy experts in this area, either in an inpatient setting (if there are 'co-morbidities'--other significant medical probs defined by insurance company), subacute rehab centers, or intense outpatient therapy. Whichever setting, it should start quickly after surgery, be done 2-3 times a day, and always be under direct or indirect guidance of a rehab department.

Exercise with total : The only major restriction on exercise for total knees is to avoid jogging or running as your aerobic exercise. Jumping and landing exercise are also not great because like jogging, you can cause loosening of the implant from the bone or cement fixation. This also can speed the wear down of the plastic bearings. Bicycles, tai chi, walking, swimming, dancing, golf, tennis, ellipticals are all good.
