Eczema: Moisturizing creams are the mainstay of treating eczema. Hydrocortisone ointment may be used on the lips and other parts of the body. There are more potent steroid ointments available by prescription from your doctor. Another class of treatment are called topical calcineurin inhibitors (pimecrolimus and tacrolimus ) are available for patients older than 2 years by prescription, applied 2x a day.
