That Depends: I assume you are referring to topical hydrocortisone. If your eczema is well controlled, you do not need to taper off a topical, but when you do, the eczema may return. If so, see your doctor. If it is an oral steroid, tapering depends on how long you have been on them. I would recommend asking the prescribing physician for oral steroid tapering schedule.

Oral or topical: Topically: decrease the use by 1/2 of whatever you are doing, but I do really like people with eczema to use a moisturizer/emollient on a frequent basis since that dry skin is the cause. Eczema never goes away, it comes and goes in waves.
