What are the symptoms of basil cell carcinoma? why is called basil cell anyway?

Non-healing ulcer: Basal cell carcinoma is called so because tumor cells resemble the basal layer of epidermis of the skin. These usualy present as pearly nodules that lead to non-healing ulcers that gradually erode surrounding tissues. Usually sun exposed areas are affected and uv exposure is a major risk factor.

Basal cell: This little cancer is made of cells that closely resemble the basal (bottom) layer of the stack of cells that make up your epidermis, the outer part of your skin. They begin as tiny bumps or ulcers, often with rolled borders and easy-to-see vessels. They seldom spread, but left untreated they'll eventually slowly destroy your face / invade your brain.
