HIV in pool water NO: If someone with the HIV virus bleeds into a pool, a small amount of the virus could get into the water. Most people taking medication do not have detectable virus in the blood most of the time. Unlikely: The HIV virus is very fragile and would likely not survive the heavy disinfectants used in pools as well as the dilution factor. Hiv is spread by close physical contact resulting int he exchange of body fluids.
