Own blood cells: Prp (platelet-rich plasma) injection is a current treatment for tendon problems, to help them heal faster. It is done with your own blood, processed to separate the platelet part of it and then injected in the tendon affected. Anesthesia is not needed: if you were supposed to have it it will need more neddles and unnecessary risks. Be brave and have it done!

Platelet-rich plasma: Generally speaking prp (platlet-rich plasma) injections are done in an office setting with you (the patient) awake. The exception to this is when the injections are done at the time of surgery when you are already under anesthesia. Most prp injections have mild discomfort that can be treated with tylenol (acetaminophen).

Knocking you out...: for this would be excessive. The risks of putting you under far outweigh the risks of the needle stick. Get a little lidocaine and you will be fine.
