How useful is butcher's broom for hemorrhoids?

Not Useful: Butcher's broom is an herbal treatment that doesn't really do anything. This is the case with most herbal medications. Not all! foxglove tea will slow your heart rate, and willow bark will thin your blood. But butcher's broom is a waste of money.

Butcher's Broom: Butcher's broom, or ruscus aculeatus, is most often used in products containing multiple ingredients. Available research studies these combination products, rather than butcher's broom as a monotherapy. There is some evidence for its use in venous insufficiency in legs: http://tinyurl.Com/lsf3vf7 and 1 open-label study in hemorrhoids. For a nice review, see: http://tinyurl.Com/kpbf2b4.
