Same substance: Same substance -- cannabis. Ganja is a sanskrit term that came to the west indies. People there speak of smoking ganja. Still the same health risks for all.

Only the name: Ganja and pot are both common nicknames for cannabis, also known as marijuana. Other common nicknames include weed, grass, herb, bud, dope and mary jane. There are many less common nicknames as well. Ganja is the sanskrit word for cannabis. I have no idea how "pot" became a nickname.
