A member asked:

Do a lot of people have no adhd or only slight adhd, and they take meds for the effect and like it?

Varies: Adhd is a spectrum disease in which symptoms can vary from slight, hardly noticeable, to severe, life-impairing. Regardless of severity, medications (and sometimes counseling / dietary / sleep changes) can be very beneficial. As a rule, if a treatment is successful, the patient almost surely likes it, especially when side-effects are minimal.

People are people: Abuse of medications occurs across the pharmacological spectrum. So, yes, adhd meds are misused or abused. If the prescribing doctor knows what she's doing, then this should be at a minimum.
