Doctor: Speak with your doctor. Spinal surgeons routinely operate with microdiscectomy procedures, but when you do an internet search, you will find many alternatives with claims of being the "best". Even the "best" surgeons get complications... I recommend getting a second opinion for elective microdiscectomy, and verify the credentials of your chosen surgeon.
