It should close: Punctured lung causes pneumothorax which usually resolves with chest tube in a few days in majority of cases. In small subset, if lung puncture is big, then thoracic surgeon can close it with surgery.

Hasn't healed yet : A punctured lung means there is a hole in the lung. It could be small or big. The hole is like a cut on your finger that needs to heal first. Patience usually heals these but sometimes a small operation is needed instead.
