How do you do manipulation under anesthesia after acl reconstruction?

Arthroscopy: After an acl reconstruction, there is often an area of bunched up residual acl or graft material called the "cyclops lesion". This bundle of scar needs to be removed with an arthroscopy. In general, a manipulation alone after acl reconstruction is not as successful.

Regional or general: Surgeons wishing to manipulate the knee after an acl reconstruction have the patient placed under either general or regional anesthesia. General allows for a fast onset and rapid wake up after the procedure. Regional anesthesia is for when the surgeon wants to place the patient in a range of motion device for a longer period of time.
