A member asked:

What causes the epiphyseal plate of the long bones of children to close too early?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Plate closure: Usually exposure to sex hormones ie androgens or estrogens. These are more likely to be elevated in precocious puberty or adrenal disorders. Environmental exposure is rare but on the list.
