Neuropathic process: Neurontin (gabapentin) is an anticonvulsant which means it influences the neurologic system in the brain to stop seizures and affects pain by influencing the neurologic system. It is very effective for neurologic pain such as neuropathy.

Along with ankylosing spondylitis, I have nerve pain in my leg and opposite hip. My dr gave me neurontin (gabapentin). Does it just numb the nerves.
