Dr. Bryan Reuss
Orthopedic Surgery 22 years experience
Yes: Any kind of twisting, cutting, pivoting, hyper extension, deceleration, etc type of mechanism can cause an acl injury. It does not have to happen during sports.
Dr. Jeffrey Levin

Yes: An accidental twist or fall can damge the acl.
Dr. Bernard Bach Jr
Orthopedic Surgery 43 years experience
Yes.: Any activity where your foot is planted and you twist or pivot, could tear the ACL. We have 3 patients in our practice that tore their ACL's, just twisting to get out their airplane seat.
