Iron deposition : Hemochromatosis is sometimes associated with a special type of arthritis caused by calcium crystal deposition in joints. Sometimes calcium deposits in cartilage can be seen in x-rays and is a clue to this problem. Other times x-rays are normal. Fatigue could be due to iron overload in the liver, but finding the cause of fatigue is often difficult, and could be due to other problems.

Liver, synovium: The liver dysfunction is probably behind the fatigue. The iron in the synovium of the joints causes the curious aches. Thankfully, hemochromatosis is the most treatable of all the great killers, and most people with it now lead normal lives.
