Some concerns:: Long-term acid suppression may allow helicobacter to flourish. Recent studies suggest long-tern ppi use may increase risk of osteoporosis; so getting adequate dietary calcium 7 vitamin d3 & weight-bearing exercise are very important preventives. Ppi's may also predispose to clostridium difficile-related diarrhea. If one has difficult-to-control diarrhea, one should see doc 2 b checked.
