Mammography/Sono: While regular breast exams, by yourself or doctor, are very helpful and important, the definitive diagnosis is most accurately provided by a tissue sample. As that is impractical as a routine, an imaging study (mammography and/or ultrasound, for ex.) can provide a reliable measure of the significance of a breast mass and offer a probable diagnosis. A fibroadenoma feels hard, round, and mobile.
