A member asked:

After doing kidney transplant how is the nerve supply of the transplanted kidney established?

It's not: Only blood in, out and urine out are connected. Kidney does not need nerve.

It isn't: There is no inner action on the transplanted kidney. It doesn't need one. It is a complex filtering system that doesn't require input from your brain or spinal cord.

Usually: No functional nerve supply is established immediately after transplant. That is why transplanted kidneys that are infected often do not hurt. Anatomical regrowth of nerves can happen over time.
