A member asked:

Can moderate alcohol consumption reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: Moderate intake of alcohol (no more than 7-14 drinks a week) is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. However, people who do not drink should proabably not start drinking to reduce their risk. Alcohol is also not recommended for people who have a history of alcohol abuse or dependence.
