B vitamin deficiency: Alcohol causes vitamin b1 deficiency, the most serious, also resulting in greater alcohol intake.Vitamin b6 can't be converted to its active form. Decreased liver absorption and increased urinary excretion of many b vitamins and especially Folic Acid is noted. Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid (vitamin b9) deficiency produce macrocytic anemia (enlarged blood cells). Treatment: vitamins b12+ b9+b complex.
