A member asked:

Is vomiting a common symptom of irritable bowel syndrome?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not usually: The common symptoms are stomach pain relieved by a bowel movement, pain associated with increase stool frequency, and constipation or diarrhea. The stomach pains could possibly make a person nauseous but it is not common nor is it a criteria to diagnose ibs. Vomiting is not part of rome criteria and you should see your doctor for other etiologies of vomiting like gall stones and metabolic problems.
