Many: Tick borne relapsing fever and louse borne relapsing fever are caused by spirochetes, a type of bacteria. There are many other causes of recurring fevers due to infectious and non-infectious diseases. Anyone having unexplained recurring fevers should see their doctor.

This could be within the category of fever of unknown origin. A classical cause was tuberculosis, but have seen cases of collagen vascular disease, and even familial Mediterranean fever. One must suspect occult indolent infections, emerging cancerous conditions, arteritis/ vasculitis, and some very unusual presentations of disease.
