Yes: If you have sciatica from a muscle compression such as the piriformis syndrome or nerve root compression from a disc herniation or foraminal stenosis medications such as oral steroids and nsaids can be beneficial. Epidural steroid injections may also help. 1st step is to get the correct diagnosis. See your primary care physician.

Possibly: There only pain medications and oral steroids that mask the pain or reduce the inflammation caused. Sciatica is a symptom associated by a pinched nerve in your spine. If it does not resolve in a few weeks, you might consider seeing a spine specialist to evaluate your spine further and determine other treatment options.
