Healthy Habits: Constipation should be treated intially by examining your daily habits. Most individuals will benefit from 1. Eating regular meals at the same time each day. 2. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day 3. Adding fiber (1 teaspoon or 3 pills) with each meal 4. Gentle daily exercise. 5. Limit alcohol, and caffeine. If symptoms persist after 2 weeks of this routine see your doctor.

#1 is diet: First answer is great. Additionally eating "p" fruits -peach, pear, plum, prune, pineapple, papaya, pomegranate, pumpkin, and peas all begin with a "p" and make you poop. There is an herbal tea called smoothe move tea (i did not make that up!) that can help alleviate the symptoms. Chiropractic care, craniosacral and yoga can also help a lot!
