Happens: Minor scrapes, cuts and other abrasions can and do happen at places like the pool. These are hard to prevent because kids play so hard. The best thing you can do is clean them well, apply a topical antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandaid. Contact your pediatrician or a foot specialist if anything looks concerning.

Scrapes: Summertime is an active time for all of us and that increases injuries as well. Cleanse the area of injury and protect with antibiotic cream and a waterproof bandage. Prevention is the best and it may bode well to keep the children in water shoes or active hybrid shoes for activites that put them at risk. Watch for signs of infection....Increasing redness, swelling, streaking. See your pcp.

Boot Shoes: Bottom of pools can be abrasive. Considering boot shoes even in the pool, just like we use them at the like for prevention. When abrasions occur, considering drying well, an antibiotic ointment and wrap with coban ("self adherent wrap") from target or walmart.
