Can't judge: I imagine the couple is more interested in a healthy surrogate. It so happens that candidates in poorer areas may be more willing or interested in being a surrogate. If both parties benefit, i see no harm.

Poor idea: Surrogacy is used just for women who cannot carry their own baby. Surrogacy is not for rich women's convenience. Surrogacy is costly, so wealth helps to afford a surrogate. I have met many surrogates and they are women who genuinely want to help and they go through extensive screening, medical and psychological. Surrogates make a big commitment, so poor women may not be a good choice. Complicated.

Surrogacy : Make sure you have a legal binding contract with the surrogate that defines who has legal rights to the child after birth, how soon the transfer of custody takes place, what access or visitation right the surrogate has after birth (if any), and what access you have to the surrogate's past and present medical history.

Its a very good tool: It's a great tool but should be used for the right reasons . Not to abuse it for convenience.

Someone carries baby: A selected female will carry your embryo and deliver the baby on your behalf. Its a good tool for someone who had hysterectomy or issues with uterus and can't carry baby but can produce eggs
A 40-year-old member asked:

What is difference between surrogacy and being a brood mare?

Loads: Surrogacy is a choice that is well thought out and coordinated. It involves trust, commitment, and usually compensation that is mutually agreed upon. There is no comparison & it's a bit insulting to compare the two. A brood mare is an animal whose sole purpose is for breeding-it has no choice.

Is surrogacy legal and ethical everywhere?

I think so: Using a surrogate is fine anywhere in the U.S., i think. You should definitely use a lawyer and have a legal binding contract before you use a surrogate.
