Preg carried other: Surrogacy is when one woman who is not the biological mother carries a pregnancy for another woman. This is needed when a woman is born without a uterus, has a hysterectomy for cancer or an abnormal shaped uterus. Most women do not need a surrogate because the uterus can be used even after menopause.
