A member asked:

What are the risks of a sex change physically and mentally?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There are risks: Besides the risks of some major surgeries to change the external sex characteristics which include the usual suspects like anesthetic risks, chance of bleeding, infection or injury to organs/nerves, there are always the emotional/mental risks. Studies show that up to a third of people changing their sex come to regret their decision. As hard as it is to change, it is often harder to change back.
