Methadone: Getting off Methadone is quite simple and usually involves a dose reduction done several weeks at a time. In my practice I do this monthly as this is what works best for me and my patients.

Gentle Weaning: Generally, it is not recommended to stop suddenly. Rather, work with your doctor to reduce your dose in order to wean off about 10% of your daily dose every 3 days until off. This would be a very gentle weaning.
